THE BEES

This novel is a nonfiction based story with very legitimate factual elements about how the bees operate and exist in the world today. I truly brought to life and anthropomorphized the bees to create a immersive experience for the reader. The book follows the story of a single worker bee, Flora 717, and her journey throughout the hive as she moves from job to job and stands out among the other bees. Flora is seen as unusual and different, almost as a "mutant", however in reality she is special and enacts change throughout her hive through her various "jobs" she is assigned to. The various themes highlighted throughout the presentation above were very apparent in the entirety of the book, and made the novel educational to how we can view our own society.

I think this book was very successful in communicating how a completely different species from our own can operate while also showing how similar it can be to our own. I think that this book is effective in teaching about the issues of the bees with colony collapse disorder as well and could be a very effective learning tool for grade school students to become educated through to spread awareness in an easy to follow procedure.
